Jobber vs Housecall Pro for Pressure Washing and Exterior Cleaning
If you run a pressure washing, soft washing or window cleaning business and you’ve outgrown texts and paper estimates, these two names come up first. Both handle the basics well: requests, quotes, scheduling, invoices and card payments. The differences are in which features sit on which plan, how users are priced, and how each one fits a seasonal, quote-heavy business.

What matters most for exterior cleaning
1. Quoting from measurements
Exterior cleaning is priced by the square foot, linear foot or by the story. Neither app is a measuring tool out of the box, so you’ll be entering line items with quantities. Set up your price book carefully: house wash per sq ft, concrete per sq ft, fence per linear ft, gutter brightening per linear ft, and a minimum job charge. Jobber’s Grow tier lists optional line items on quotes, which suits upsells like gutter faces or a driveway sealing add-on. Housecall Pro’s Essentials lists flat-rate pricing with profit margins built in.
2. Seasonality
Many exterior cleaners are slow for part of the year. Annual prepaid plans are cheaper per month but non-refundable on Jobber if you cancel mid-term. If your winter is dead, compare a no-commitment monthly plan against annual pricing honestly.
3. Crews and users
A two-person crew with one rig is different from two solo techs. Jobber’s listed team-size pricing jumps at 5, 10 and 15 users. Housecall Pro’s Essentials includes 5 users. Count who actually needs to log in.
4. Recurring work
Storefront window cleaning, dumpster pads and HOA common areas are recurring revenue. Housecall Pro lists recurring service plans on MAX. Jobber lists automatic payments for recurring work. If you’re building a route of recurring commercial accounts, test this during your trial.
5. Getting paid
On a $400 house wash, the difference between 2.9% + 30¢ and 2.59% is about $1.55 per job before any per-transaction fee differences. That’s real but small. It shouldn’t decide your choice unless you process a lot of card volume.
Honest pros and cons
Jobber
- Pros: low-cost entry plan for a solo operator; clear tier list; QuickBooks Online and Xero sync from Connect up; optional line items and quote follow-ups for winning more estimates.
- Cons: job costing and two-way texting are on Grow; per-user pricing adds up for crews.
Housecall Pro
- Pros: job costing and review management listed on the entry plan; lower listed card rate; no long-term contracts.
- Cons: higher entry price than Jobber Core; middle-tier prices weren’t shown openly when we checked; built around home trades rather than exterior cleaning specifically.
Our take
Solo operator, mostly residential, watching costs: start with Jobber Core or Connect, and keep job costing in a spreadsheet.
Small crew that wants job costing and review requests without the top tier: Housecall Pro is worth a trial.
Either way, set your prices before you set up software. A price book full of guesses just sends bad quotes faster. Our square-foot quoting guide covers how to build rates.
